Over the whole day the Mount Guiting Guiting collect the rain clouds and it is mostly raining at night in the mountain area.
The lower area receive also some rain in the night and over the day like short rain showers only.

For our Mountaineers the best time to come is in the period of mid of March until end of June / mid of July.

- WIND - MONSOON - AND THE TYPHOONS -

WIND

Technically we speak about 2 kinds of winds in the Philippines

:: THE AMIHAN ::
When the prevailing winds come from the east, it is called in the Phillippines as "The Amihan".
The Amihan is dominated by the trade winds, know as the Northeast Monsoon and comes with cool Northeast wind from within September and is blowing until April.
It is also the good time for Sailing & Kitesurfing

:: TIMOG / SUYANG ::
In between of Amihan and Habagat, there are 2 other winds with the local name "Timog" and "Suyang"
This winds are "fighting" in between, before the Amihan or the Habagat comes finally active. Normally it takes only 2-3 weeks.
The Timog comes from Southeast and the Suyang from the Northwest.

:: THE HABAGAT ::
When winds emanate from the west, the Philippines speak about "The Habagat"
The Habagat or Southwest Monsoon which comes with a hot wind and also rain during the months of June-September.

Sibuyan Island - Wind Weather Typhoon

TYPHOON

Normally, the typhoons come with the Wet Season, meaning with the "Habagat" season, which technically starts around June or July.

Our personal experiences since years...they doesn't effect Sibuyan, especially the Olango Bay, much.
Even Yolanda, a CAT5 Typhoon who hit Sibuyan directly leave the island without casualities and big damages.

The reason:
The SouthWest region ( where is the Olango Bay ) is protected by the Mount Guiting Guiting and for that a protected zone.
